Flemington Free Public LibraryBoard of Trustees Meeting Minutes: December 6, 2016
The Flemington Free Public Library (FFPL) Board of Trustees was called to order at 9:08 by Board President Jane DeHaven. Shawn Armington, Warren Buckleitner, Grace Chang-Fuoti, Elizabeth Fisher, Jim Rossetti and Steve Rogow were in attendance.
SECRETARY’S REPORT One minor correction— a meeting date was changed. Liz moved accept the report; Steve seconded.
TREASURER’S REPORTThe treasurer’s Report was reviewed, approved and filed for audit. Shawn reported that there is typically some uncertainty concerning the funds remaining at the close of the year from the amount budgeted by the Borough of Flemington. This is due to the fact that the library may be unaware of bills paid out directly by the borough to vendors from the library budget, and to the fact that the library is often unaware of the exact amounts paid out in salary, benefits, and insurance. The balance of the apportioned funds is forwarded to the library when the borough closes its books for the year. Liz thanked Shawn for keeping a close watch on the budget. Jane moved to accept; Steve seconded.
CORRESPONDENCEShawn distributed invitations to the reorganization dinner, which will be on Tuesday Jan. 3, 2017 at 6 PM in the Elks Lodge.
CONTINUING BUSINESS
Gutter, roof and front door issues. There are several large and potentially expensive projects that were discussed, and will be brought to the attention of Brooke, the Library’s Borough Liaison.
- ROOF/GUTTER As of this meeting date, no firm dates are available on when work might begin on the roof/gutter.
- FRONT DOOR Due to the increased costs of maintenance and repair, it would be more cost effective to replace the existing doors.
NEW BUSINESS
Mediatech: Warren reported that the 5th annual holiday concert held last weekend was a success and suggested that we might think about having more Thursday night chats.
Friends: The book clubs are going strong.
Jane suggested that we might think about creating an information flow so that the Library Trustees are kept in the loop about events created by Friends and Mediatech.
The Board adjourned at 10:10 AM. The next meeting will be Thursday, January 19, 2017.
