  Flemington Free Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes

February 17, 2023

The Flemington Free Public Library (FFPL) Board of Trustees Zoom meeting was called to order at 9:31 am by Board President Jane DeHaven. Library Director Shawn Armington, Liz Fisher, Grace Fuoti, James Rossetti, Steve Rogow and Warren Buckleitner were present.

OPMA statement:

This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of the Open Public Meeting Act.  Notice was sent to the newspapers of record, The Courier News and The Hunterdon Democrat, and posted on the library’s website and bulletin board.

REVIEW OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and a few minor grammatical mistakes were noted and corrected.  Liz moved to accept, Jane seconded.

REVIEW OF ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and a few minor grammatical mistakes were noted and corrected. Times were adjusted and corrected along with the addition of the reciprocal borrowing agreement, Liz moved to accept, Grace seconded.

TREASURERS REPORT

The treasurers report was reviewed by Liz. Steve moved to accept and Jim seconded. 

LIBRARY DIRECTORS REPORT

Shawn has gotten quotes for painting some plaster and ceilings in the children’s room and would like to proceed. The amount needed is under what is needed to out to bid. Jane approved, and Liz seconded.

BASEMENT RENOVATIONS

The documents are currently under review and will go out to bid… things are moving slowly. The plan is to keep the library open as much as possible during this time.

CONTINUING BUSINESS

A memorial for Anne Thomas was discussed. Some ideas include a portrait as well as a garden idea although we need to find out if there was someone else who it was named after. Shawn talked about the need for updating the lanterns – they might need to be rewired.

Liz noted thatj Baby Time has been popular, kudos to Debbie Moore.

10:20 The meeting was adjourned.

March 17th will be the next meeting. St. Patrick’s day.
