Board of Trustees Meeting MinutesApril 12, 2024
The Flemington Free Public Library (FFPL) Board of Trustees Zoom meeting was called to order at 9:32 am by Library President Jane DeHaven. Also in attendance were Jim Rosetti, Adrienne Fusaro, Grace Fuoti, Liz Fisher, Steve Rogow and Warren Buckleitner, along with Library Director Shawn Armington.
OPMA statement: This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of the Open Public Meeting Act. Notice was sent to the newspapers of record, The Courier News and The Hunterdon Democrat, and posted on the library’s website and bulletin board.
REVIEW OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES The March 2024 minutes were reviewed. Liz moved to approve the minutes; Jane seconded with the minor change that Jim Rosetti was not at March meeting.
TREASURERS REPORThe treasurers report was reviewed by Liz.Grace moved to accept and Jim seconded.
CONTINUING BUSINESSBasement remediation. Adrienne gave us an update and will check with the Borough Attorney to keep the basement remediation project on the agenda for the next council meeting. She expects it to be approved.
Torcheres. Wiring is done. The Borough building code supervisor needs to look at and approve. Adrienne will look into it. Shawn will coordinate this.
Security cameras. Installation has been postponed until May 1.
Exterior painting. Shawn forwarded two estimates for board review. Jane suggested that we go with Certapro, which has lead certification and suggested that we start the work soon, so that the new lights and paint are done for the summer. Liz moved to accept the Certapro bid, Jane seconded.
Alarm call list. We need a local contact who can respond to entry alarms. Shawn noted that the frequency of false alarms has been greatly decreased. Jane expressed concern that staff or board members are not equipped to handle real alarms. Adrienne will check with the Borough police to see if we can have them respond directly to alarms, as they do with other Borough buildings.
Financial disclosure statements. Jane reminded all the board members to submit by April 30.
Adrienne shared some news about informal plans for a Christmas Market in the County Park; thinking of ways to involve the library. Shawn said we have a nice supply of vintage nutcrackers to display. Shawn expressed thanks for the plates of cookies from the Society of Neighbors.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:17 am. The next meeting will be on May 17.
