Flemington Free Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
February 16, 2024
The Flemington Free Public Library (FFPL) Board of Trustees Zoom meeting was called to order at 9:35 am by Library President Jane DeHaven. Also in attendance were Jim Rosetti, Adrianne Fusaro, Grace Fuoti, Liz Fisher, Steve Rogow and Warren Buckleitner; along with Library Director Shawn Armington and Kristin Self from the Friends group.
OPMA statement:This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of the Open Public Meeting Act. Notice was sent to the newspapers of record, The Courier News and The Hunterdon Democrat, and posted on the library’s website and bulletin board.
REVIEW OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
The Annual 2023 minutes were reviewed. Steve moved to accept; and Jane seconded.
The January 2024 minutes were reviewed. Liz moved to approve the minutes, Jane seconded.
TREASURERS REPORT We’ve changed snow removal services. The new service is more expensive. Shawn said we’re basically on target in terms of our budget. The treasurers report was reviewed by Liz. Jim moved to accept and Grace seconded.
CONTINUING BUSINESS Basement remediation. Shawn mentioned that we’ll need the Borough Council’s resolution to approve Charles Mann Contracting as the winning bid. Adrianne will look into it to keep it moving forward.
Torcheres. They are out for repair, and there is no news.
Security cameras. We have a current quote from Vector security. We need to get a second quote from Corporate Security Force.
Maintenance. Liz mentioned that the windows in the front of the library are peeling paint badly and could use some help. Jane asked Shawn to look into getting it fixed.
THE FRIENDS GROUP SURVEY
Kristin shared a detailed survey that was created to measure general library services. The general board reaction was very positive, although there were concerns about the length (six pages) and the accuracy of the information collected. Kristin will look into some revisions.
The Friends are hosting the annual Makers Day, and will help to promote the event.
The next meetings will be on March 15 and April 12
